Privacy Policy
Effective 4 October 2026
A short, plain-language summary of how we handle your information. The full details are in our Data Privacy Policy — the two never contradict each other.
What we collect
- When you vote: the phone number you pay with, your mobile network, your name if you choose to give it, and the details of your vote (event, contestant, votes, amount, time).
- When you apply as a contestant: your name, email, phone number, biography, photograph and any extra answer the organiser asks for.
- When you use the website: basic technical details such as IP address and browser type.
We never receive your mobile money PIN or card details — you give those only to the payment provider.
Why we collect it
To record your votes and confirm your payment, to calculate and show results under each event's rules, to let organisers run their events and review applications, to prevent fraud, to keep financial records, and to help you when you contact us.
How your transactions and votes are handled
- Your vote counts only once the payment provider confirms your payment.
- Your full phone number is stored encrypted and only TechWorld's Super Administrators can read it — to send your SMS receipt and to help with payment questions. Event organisers only ever see a masked version (like 23324****567).
- After a confirmed vote we send you an SMS receipt through our SMS provider.
- You can check your own transaction on the Verify a Transaction page using your number and transaction ID — nobody can look it up with only one of the two.
How we protect it
Encrypted HTTPS connections, masked and fingerprinted phone numbers, encrypted applicant contact details, hashed passwords, role-based access checked on our server, limits on repeated attempts, and logs of important administrative actions.
When we share it
Only with the payment providers, USSD gateway and SMS provider that process your vote, with the organiser of the event you vote in or apply to (phone numbers masked for voters), with the service providers that host the platform, and with authorities when the law requires it. We never sell your information.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to its use, or complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. Contact us using the details below — we will confirm your identity first, usually with your phone number and a transaction ID.
